Highland Tea - A Gift from the Black Sea

Highland tea, known for growing in the flora of the Black Sea region, especially gathered from the plateaus of Trabzon, Rize, and Giresun, is a valuable plant consumed by the local people for its healing properties.

It belongs to the Ballıbabagiller (Lamiaceae) family, which is a less popular member compared to aromatic plants such as lavender, sage, mint, and thyme. It is also one of the endemic plant species grown in our country.

Various sources suggest that Ibn Sina recommended highland tea for stomach ailments. Its ability to regulate stomach acids and relieve indigestion supports these sources. Since stress triggers stomach discomfort, it has been observed that plants that soothe the stomach are also used to combat stress. The fact that the relationship between organs and emotions is the source of many diseases can also be supported by the consistency of the benefits of herbal teas.

Highland tea, believed to be beneficial for a restless mood among the public, has calming and muscle-relaxing effects. In fact, with its calming and relaxing effects, it reminds us of chamomile tea and has similar properties to chamomile tea. Chamomile tea is also good for digestion, just like highland tea. In the ancient tradition of highland life, Highland Tea is also consumed to protect against colds. It is believed to have antiviral properties.

Instead of openly telling your tense office mate, "Let me make you some chamomile tea," you can suggest highland tea, and if you enjoy drinking chamomile tea on Mondays, you can also include highland tea on Tuesdays in your menu. Different days, different flavors...

Although adopting a lifestyle of drinking herbal tea and staying away from harmful substances has not yet been fully embraced, consuming certain herbal teas on specific days of the week will bring many visible results in the long run, from the structure of our hair to the texture of our skin. Even an improvement in the quality of our sleep will change many things in our lives with a butterfly effect.
