Biscuit Dipping Test Results
At Lazika, we greatly value shedding light on the unknown. ARGE is ARGE. We spared no expense and tested both local and imported biscuits. May the best one win, and feel free to dip your biscuit into your tea as you wish.
Our Test Parameters
Our test parameters remained unchanged:
- Recommended dipping time
- Disintegration time in tea
- Maximum dipping time without accidents
- Recommended total eating time
1. Lotus
Lotus, a Dutch-made biscuit, is extremely popular overseas as a tea/coffee companion. It's quite hard to find outside of major supermarket chains in Turkey. The combination of caramel and biscuit in Lotus is delightful. People either love it or don’t like it at all. So, how did it perform in our test?
Lotus Biscoff Caramelized
- Disintegration time in tea: 6.30 s
- Recommended dipping time: 3.20 s
- Maximum dipping time without accidents: 5.08 s
- Recommended total eating time: 5.30 s
After dipping Lotus Biscoff into the tea, aim to eat it within 5.30 seconds. After that, it might get a bit disastrous.
Our score for Lotus Biscoff Caramelized: 8/10
2. McVities
Our second imported biscuit, McVities, is quite popular in the UK with various varieties. It is said that 70 million packages are produced annually. We could compare it to the chocolate-covered version of our local Eti Burçağ.
McVities
- Disintegration time in tea: 29.30 s
- Recommended dipping time: 6.50 s
- Maximum dipping time without accidents: 22.13 s
- Recommended total eating time: 7.33 s
McVities is quite tasty when combined with tea, and its dipping time is surprisingly long. However, if you’re expecting a soft eating experience like other biscuits, it might disappoint you.
Our score for McVities: 7/10
3. Oreo
Oreo, a biscuit that is popular both in Turkey and abroad, made it to our testing list for our dedicated fans.
Oreo
- Disintegration time in tea: 19.35 s
- Recommended dipping time: 5.98 s
- Maximum dipping time without accidents: 22.13 s
- Recommended total eating time: 7.23 s
We decided that Oreo’s true companion is milk. Its cocoa biscuit and filling don’t leave a lasting flavor when dipped in tea, unlike the other biscuits.
Our score for Oreo: 5/10
4. Hanımeller Çokodolu
Almost everyone knows Hanımeller biscuits. Two years ago, the Ülker company added a new variety called Çokodolu to the Hanımeller family.
Hanımeller Çokodolu
- Disintegration time in tea: 14.65 s
- Recommended dipping time: 5.02 s
- Maximum dipping time without accidents: 10.17 s
- Recommended total eating time: 7.49 s
We think we’ve found the most tea-friendly biscuit on this list. Its ability to hold up well and the smooth chocolate transforming beautifully with the tea’s warmth make it the top contender in this list.
Our score for Hanımeller Çokodolu: 9/10
5. Eti Hoşbeş
Eti Hoşbeş, with its chocolate cream filling and fresh wafer, is another biscuit that could stand out when paired with tea.
Eti Hoşbeş
- Disintegration time in tea: 86.14 s
- Recommended dipping time: 6.26 s
- Maximum dipping time without accidents: 62.17 s
- Recommended total eating time: 7.19 s
Hoşbeş has a great taste when combined with tea. Despite its good characteristics, the wafer part didn’t respond well to the tea and became too soft, which slightly affected its flavor.
Our score for Hoşbeş: 8/10
Cheers,
