Which Teas Can You Cold Brew?
Even though tea can soothe the heat, many people prefer something cold during summer. So, we thought, "Why not offer cold tea?" We experimented with our teas daily to find out which ones are suitable for cold brewing. Here are our findings, shared with you to beat the heat! By the way, for those who don’t know, we have a cozy cafe called 'Cafe Lazika' located on the 4th floor of the Turkish Cuisine Museum in 42 Maslak Mall. A perfect spot to relax, work, or meet friends while enjoying our freshly brewed teas, coffee, and desserts.
Green Tea
We brewed plain green tea with ice for 3-4 hours. The result was a crystal-clear tea. At home, you can brew it by placing 3-4 servings of green tea into a container and adding 2-3 times more ice. Once all the ice has melted, strain the tea. Cold green tea reveals a naturally sweet aroma, distinct from its hot counterpart. You might not need any additional sweeteners, but honey pairs wonderfully if desired.
Hisli Harman 'Sekine'
We brewed the tea bags hot and then chilled them, serving with ice. For one large teapot, we used 3-4 tea bags, brewed hot, and then cooled. The light sweetness of apple tea shines through. Adding your favorite fruit can enhance the flavor. Sekine tastes amazing whether hot or cold!
Hisli Harman 'Canfeza'
Brew it hot, add ice, and enjoy! We recommend it to those seeking a sweet herbal tea when hot. Its sweetness, derived from stevia and rosehip, makes it a perfect cold tea too. Its hibiscus content adds vibrant color. Bonus: It also includes green tea. You’ll love its taste and look!
Relax 'Strawberry Dream'
The bright red color of hibiscus and the strawberry aroma make this tea stand out. The sweet flavors of strawberry and rooibos pair excellently with iced tea. We brewed it in a large teapot with three tea bags. Even though it starts intense, the flavor mellows with ice. You won’t need any extra sweeteners or fruits.
Relax 'Mint Lemon'
We brewed it hot and cooled it. Add fresh mint leaves and lemon slices for a sharper, refreshing, and revitalizing flavor. Another excellent option is to rim your glass with sugar before adding the ice if you enjoy a touch of sweetness.
Pomegranate Tea
If you crave fresh pomegranate juice, our pomegranate tea becomes a perfect substitute when cold brewed! Made with real pomegranate seeds and hibiscus tea, it’s a vibrant and flavorful option. Pour the tea bag into a large container, top it with ice, and let it melt completely. Strain with a fine sieve. It’s ideal for keeping in the fridge or serving to guests!
