A Heartfelt Interview with Nağme Mahmutoğlu
A Story of Tea, Friendships, and a Sentimental Blend
Tea thrives in company; it loves conversation. Tea initiates friendships; it becomes the ink for the pen that continues the story. It's true that we find so much in tea; because every cup of tea has a story. Even the one left unfinished at the table.
A Story of Friendship
Today, we want to tell you the story of a friendship that wasn't left unfinished. Actually, this is also a story from the Hisli Harman series. We're having a pleasant conversation with Nağme Mahmutoğlu, the cover designer for the Hisli Harman series.
Meeting Nağme Mahmutoğlu
Welcome, Nağme. You've made us very happy. Of course, we knew you; you've been a friend of Lazika for a long time. Now, this friendship has taken on an incredibly beautiful form for us as well. We are very pleased to host you. Today, we will actually be talking about Nağme's journey and how that journey intersected with our "Hisli Harman" (Sensitive Blend).
An Introduction to Lazika and the Beginning of a Sensitive Blend
I first got to know Lazika through its truly wonderful teas. Then we had a great adventure on the Ultra Kaçkar Marathon. I got to know Lazika a little better. Emre. What he wants to do. His desire to bring a new breath to tea. I love to tell stories about people's feelings, the places they visit, and what they feel. How do I like to tell stories? Sometimes it's a piece of writing. Sometimes it's a photograph. And one of the things I've loved since childhood is drawing.
The Story Behind Nağme's Drawing
Every now and then, once a year, after traveling to different places, I gather and compile these memories. One time, I sat down and, even though two years had passed, I drew the Kaçkar Ultra Marathon, Çayeli, the places we visited together in Çinçiva, and the village of Şenyuva.
Sensual Blend and Emotions
You described Emotional Blend beautifully. When we started with Emotional Blend, we started with an idea. Weight loss tea, mind-relaxing tea, all our teas were functional. Our lives were functional. But we, as Lazika, decided to be unconventional. We wanted to create a series of teas that would affect and change people's feelings and emotions. You shared our dream. You drew nine separate masterpieces for us, directly describing the content, from the selection of herbs to the colors.
Nağme's Contribution to Hisli Harman
What did you feel while drawing? It was so enjoyable, actually. When I received your first project brief, it was about bringing together beautiful things like flowers and grass, and on top of that, combining them with emotion. When I read it, everything was so beautifully put together and connected with emotions that it wasn't difficult at all to imagine it.
The Emotional Power of Tea
You're tasting these blends for the first time. Right now you're drinking Maşuka. Maşuka means "The Woman One Falls in Love With." What did it make you feel? The woman one falls in love with. Right among the flowers. An intense feeling. It has so many flowers and different flavors in it. As cheerful and sweet as a woman in love. I'll say the same thing about Sekine. It's so peaceful and beautiful, congratulations on your creation.
In conclusion
We started with a dream, and you fulfilled that dream beautifully. The expectations we had to meet were very high. I can say that Rana and Ayla and I worked quite hard. If we were able to convey that feeling to you through taste and flavor, we hope we can do the same for everyone. We owe our thanks to Nağme Mahmutoğlu for understanding us, for being able to express our feelings, and for sincerely conveying her emotions. Seeing the Lazika teas from her world is a great joy for us.
