A Sensual Interview with Nağme Mahmutoğlu

Tea, Friendships, and the Story of Hisli Harman

Tea has a special relationship with gatherings; it loves good conversation. Tea begins friendships; it becomes the ink of the pen that writes the continuation of the story. It’s true that we find a lot in tea, because every cup of tea has its own story. Even the one that remains unfinished on the table.

The Story of a Friendship

Today, we want to share with you the story of a friendship that has never remained unfinished. This is also a Hisli Harman story. We’re having a delightful chat with Nağme Mahmutoğlu, the cover designer of the Hisli Harman series.

Meeting Nağme Mahmutoğlu

Welcome, Nağme. You’ve made us so happy. We’ve known you for a while, of course, and you’ve been a Lazika friend for a long time. Now this friendship has gone to a very beautiful place from our perspective. We enjoy hosting you so much. Today, we’ll talk about Nağme’s journey and how that journey intersects with our Hisli Harman.

Introduction to Lazika and Beginning Hisli Harman

I first got to know Lazika through its beautiful teas. Then we had a wonderful Ultra Kaçkar Marathon adventure, and I got to know Lazika a bit more closely. Emre, his plans, and his desire to bring a new breath to tea. I love telling people’s emotions, the places they’ve traveled, and what they’ve felt. How do I like telling these stories? Sometimes it’s in writing, sometimes in photos. Since my childhood, one of the things I’ve enjoyed is drawing.

Nağme's Drawing Story

Once a year, after traveling to different places, I compile these memories. One time, even after two years, I sat down and drew Kaçkar Ultra Marathon, Çayeli, the places we visited in Çinçiva, and Şenyuva village.

Hisli Harman and Emotions

You’ve described Hisli Harman beautifully. When we started with Hisli Harman, we started with an idea. The teas were functional, like weight loss tea or calming tea. Our lives were functional. As Lazika, we wanted to be a little unconventional. We decided to create a tea series that would affect people’s feelings and emotions. You shared our dream and created 9 masterpieces for us, describing the herbs and colors of the ingredients.

Nağme's Contribution to Hisli Harman

How did you feel while drawing? It was so enjoyable, actually. When the first project brief came to me, it was about bringing together beautiful flowers and herbs, and combining them with emotions. When I read them, everything was so beautifully arranged and associated with feelings that it wasn’t hard to imagine them.

The Emotional Power of Tea

You’re tasting the blends for the first time. Right now, you’re drinking Maşuka. Maşuka means “The Woman You Fall in Love With.” What did it make you feel? The woman you fall in love with. Right in the midst of flowers. Intense emotion. It has so many flowers and different tastes. It’s as joyful and sweet as a woman you fall in love with. I’ll say the same thing for Sekine. It’s just as calming and beautiful. Great job, it’s a beautiful creation.

In Conclusion

We started with a dream, and you filled that dream beautifully. The expectation we had to meet was very high. I can say we worked quite a bit with Rana and Ayla Hanım. If we were able to convey that emotion with taste and flavors, we hope we can share it with everyone. We owe our thanks to Nağme Mahmutoğlu for being able to understand us, express our feelings, and sincerely convey her emotions. Seeing Lazika teas through her world is a great joy for us.
